Revisions
A scheduled revision of 2024’s Trade, Industry and Contracts bulletin was made in March 2025. This provided an update on the latest UK Defence and Security Export statistics which were unavailable at the time of initial publication.
An update has been provided on the percentage of MOD’s direct expenditure with UK industry going to Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). Data previously presented figures for 2022/23 as the latest year of reference. Updated information for 2023/24 was released in November 2024 as part of MOD’s Regional Expenditure with Industry bulletin, and the amendment to this report brings the reporting year referenced across both publications in line with one another for consistency.
In the same revision, the competition and SME status of newly-placed contracts in 2023/24 were also reassessed to address issues on the late reporting of contracts. This update uplifted the total value of all new contracts placed in 2023/24 by 3%. There was a negligible change on the number of contracts placed which fell by less than 1%.
